Vishay 'broadens optoelectronics portfolio' with new optocouplers

Pennsylvania-based optoelectronics maker Vishay Intertechnology has unveiled two new high-speed analogue optocouplers that can be used for signal isolation in industrial communications.

The company, which describes itself as a "one stop service" for a range of sectors including military and aerospace, stated that its latest release will protect workers on bus lines from receiving electric shocks.

In addition, the VOM452TVOM452T and VOM453TVOM453T feature a short propagation delay of one microsecond, which is said to be critical for applications that need faster switching times compared with standard phototransistor optocouplers.

Both come in the industry standard SOP-5 package, which saves up to 75 per cent in printed circuit board space compared with DIP-8 SMD versions.

Its programmable logic controllers, that have an operator interface, can also protect its integrated microprocessor from being damaged by voltage spikes.

Vishay is releasing samples of its latest additions to its optoelectronics portfolio, with lead times of up to eight weeks for larger orders.
