The Niagara 3218, a quad-segment link aggregation tap for ten-gigabit Ethernet networks, has been unveiled by Interface Masters, a manufacturer of switches, internal server adapter cards, and intelligent bypass and failover systems.

According to the firm, its new tap aims to provide many of the features that are now considered essential to the effective running of a date centre.

They include internal redundant power supplies to enhance reliability, packet injection capabilities and eight additional ports for link aggregation, improving the flexibility of the device when used for network monitoring.

Ben Askarinam, founder and chief executive officer of Interface Masters Technologies, says: "The Niagara 3218 is designed to ensure system integrators, data centres and IT security companies have maximum access and visibility into mission-critical data on networks of any speed, size or orientation."

The Niagara 3218 is rated for an operating temperature range from freezing point to 55 degrees C, with humidity anywhere between five and 95 per cent.
