Original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) stand to gain the most from strength in the semiconductor industry, according to market analyst Rothman Research.

The firm explains that some technology sales are expected to cool towards the latter half of 2010.

However, while this trend may emerge in the third quarter, the analyst adds that OEM sales of semiconductor devices "should remain strong".

Over the past year, the research firm adds that unit shipments of OEM products have doubled.

Revenues are also up, by 181 per cent compared with the second quarter of 2009.

Among the obstacles, however, is the need to maintain pace with the rate of chip production required by consumer trends.

With appetite for new gadgets said to be at an all-time high and developers working fast to match this demand, the chips needed to power new devices must be available.

Rothman Research explains that the key to its service is to allow prompt action to be taken based on anticipation of market trends determined from "solid company analysis".
