&lt;span&gt;Wireless sensors from California-based GainSpan have been certified under the Wi-Fi Protected Set-up (WPS) standard.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span&gt;The accreditation was developed by the Wi-Fi Alliance, marking out technology that makes it easier to establish a wireless network.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span&gt;Pankaj Vyas, vice-president of software and systems at GainSpan, says: &amp;amp;quot;Over the past three years, we have been dedicated to making Wi-Fi provisioning as simple as possible.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span&gt;&amp;amp;quot;By our participation in the WPS certification process, we are fulfilling that goal.&amp;amp;quot;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span&gt;The company incorporates wireless sensors into PIN activated and push-button networking equipment, offering users a choice of methods to establish a private connection.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span&gt;Its accreditation relates to a Wi-Fi sensor reference design based on its GS1011 ultra-low-power wireless system-on-chip.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span&gt;The chip offers 11 Mbps throughput for data rates compliant with 802.11b industry specifications.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span&gt;GainSpan suggests that it is well suited to applications in smart energy, building automation systems and healthcare, as well as for consumer devices.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;a href="http://feeds.directnews.co.uk/feedtrack/justcopyright.gif?feedid=1785&amp;amp;itemid=800033975"&gt;&lt;img alt="ADNFCR-1785-ID-800033975-ADNFCR" src="http://feeds.directnews.co.uk/feedtrack/justcopyright.gif?feedid=1785&amp;amp;itemid=800033975" /&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;div style="clear:both;"&gt;&lt;/div&gt;
