Electronics innovator Tektronix is highlighting its loudness solutions for digital audio connectors at IBC 2010 in September.

The event is an opportunity for innovations in broadcasting technology to be showcased to delegates.

Among those on display by Oregon-based Tektronix is a solution to the wide dynamic range of modern audio connectors and its potential manipulation by television companies.

For example, the firm warns that some broadcasters opt for increased volume during commercial breaks - a tactic unpopular with viewers and which has come under scrutiny from regulators in recent years.

Tektronix allows the loudness level of different kinds of sound output to be monitored, helping to comply with legislation introduced by governments to combat manipulation of the audio signal.

In April, the company detailed its rasterisers and waveform monitors, including what it claimed was the industry's first solution suitable for use with Dolby Digital Plus audio output.
