&lt;span&gt;A new partnership between General Electric (GE) and Rambus could see innovative new LED lighting systems enter the commercial and residential sectors. &lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span&gt;According to the latter company, GE has penned a broad licensing agreement in order to use Rambus&amp;#39; manufacturing techniques and reference designs. &lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span&gt;President and chief executive officer of GE Lighting Michael Petras said both companies are hoping to offer enhanced technologies through the arrangement. &lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span&gt;He remarked: &amp;amp;quot;One of our objectives as a lighting innovator is to quickly launch leading-edge products that can accelerate the adoption of quality LED lighting solutions around the world in commercial and residential settings.&amp;amp;quot;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span&gt;President of lighting and display technology at Rambus Jeff Parker agreed, adding that the deal will launch a new generation of effective and energy-efficient products. &lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span&gt;Earlier this month, the organisation gave a presentation on the acceleration of LED backlighting for displays at the third annual Green Photonics Forum, held by the Optoelectronics Industry Development Association.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;a href="http://feeds.directnews.co.uk/feedtrack/justcopyright.gif?feedid=1785&amp;amp;itemid=19870728"&gt;&lt;img alt="ADNFCR-1785-ID-19870728-ADNFCR" src="http://feeds.directnews.co.uk/feedtrack/justcopyright.gif?feedid=1785&amp;amp;itemid=19870728" /&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;div style="clear:both;"&gt;&lt;/div&gt;
