Qnuru and Visible Light Solar unveil LED light bulbs

A range of 30 LED light bulbs is said to fit 95 per cent of industrial and commercial fixtures and produce daylight-quality illumination while consuming 85 per cent less energy than conventional offerings, according to its makers.

Qnuru and Visible Light Star unveiled the Vector line of diode-based luminaire technology and claimed the 30 Energy Star-compliant, Edison Testing Laboratory-classified application meets the challenges for power-efficient lighting set out by the US Department of Energy.

Furthermore, the LED manufacturer claims that the product needs only one-fifth the level of maintenance of conventional metal halide commercial lamps.

New Mexico-based Visible Light Solar characterises itself as a point of use technology produce, developing "on-and-off-grid" power optimisation solutions.

The state's governor Bill Richardson said: "Energy conservation is crucial for reducing our countrys dependence on fossil fuels and LED technology is a critical building block in our path to energy independence."

He added that he is honoured the newly merged organisation chose New Mexico as its base.
