&lt;span&gt;The lighting market in India is being driven onward by LEDs, according to analysis from Frost &amp;amp; Sullivan.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span&gt;In a new report, the research organisation sees conventional lighting technologies being replaced by LEDs in the country.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span&gt;As a result, incandescent, fluorescent and high-intensity discharge methods of illumination are losing ground to the eco-friendly alternative.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span&gt;&amp;amp;quot;The Ministry for Renewable Energy and the Bureau of Energy Efficiency have also been driving initiatives such as distribution of solar LED lanterns in villages to promote energy-efficient lighting,&amp;amp;quot; says Frost research analyst Harish Natesan.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span&gt;According to the research firm, the heat produced by LEDs is not dissipated into their surroundings, meaning that they operate more coolly than other lighting methods.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span&gt;The study comes from Frost &amp;amp; Sullivan&amp;amp;#39;s Semiconductors growth partnership service.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span&gt;A global team of research professionals provide insight through this service, addressing the use of semiconductors in sectors such as consumer electronics, automotive and healthcare.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;a href="http://feeds.directnews.co.uk/feedtrack/justcopyright.gif?feedid=1785&amp;amp;itemid=800061804"&gt;&lt;img alt="ADNFCR-1785-ID-800061804-ADNFCR" src="http://feeds.directnews.co.uk/feedtrack/justcopyright.gif?feedid=1785&amp;amp;itemid=800061804" /&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;div style="clear:both;"&gt;&lt;/div&gt;
