High-brightness LED lights 'must be tested'

Ohio-based Keithley Instruments has pointed out some of the criteria of high-brightness LED lights that should be tested in order to determine product quality.

The company is itself a supplier of testing equipment, with six decades of experience in the market.

With high-brightness LED lights entering mass production, the company says that "a solid understanding of them is critical" to ensuring electrical measurements of the semiconductor devices are both accurate and reliable.

Among the issues to bear in mind are the difference between testing LEDs designed for an alternating current supply and those designed to run on direct current.

Self-heating, which can occur within LEDs during use, is also suggested as a phenomenon to be aware of - and to try and prevent.

On October 28th, the firm is hosting a webinar to discuss these and other topics, with broadcast times scheduled to suit both European listeners and North American participants.
