&lt;span&gt;The gender imbalance in the IT sector could be redressed in the coming years thanks to the growing familiarity with electronic components.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span&gt;Maggie Berry, managing director of jobs board Women in Technology, told delegates at the recent 360 IT event that women are more communicative than their male counterparts.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span&gt;As a result, they have a growing awareness of mobile technology and software-based equivalents like social networking.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span&gt;Ms Berry posed the question of whether a greater understanding of electronic components in the modern method of communication will lead to more female IT applicants.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span&gt;She wondered of the &amp;amp;quot;next generation coming through, that have grown up with IT, whether they would consider it more as a career because they&amp;amp;#39;re so used to using it on a day-to-day basis&amp;amp;quot;.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span&gt;This compares with adults whose first encounter with a mobile phone may have been ten years ago, whereas children as young as six now have their own handset.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;a href="http://feeds.directnews.co.uk/feedtrack/justcopyright.gif?feedid=1785&amp;amp;itemid=800210820"&gt;&lt;img alt="ADNFCR-1785-ID-800210820-ADNFCR" src="http://feeds.directnews.co.uk/feedtrack/justcopyright.gif?feedid=1785&amp;amp;itemid=800210820" /&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;div style="clear:both;"&gt;&lt;/div&gt;
