&lt;span&gt;Kistler, a Swiss-based firm, has developed a new range of indirect mould sensors which come with a single-wire, replaceable cable, European Plastics News reported.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span&gt; &lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span&gt; According to the firm, the single wire simplifies mould manufacturing, as only a single bore hole is needed for the cable.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span&gt; &lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span&gt; Added to this, Kistler said that several cables can be threaded down a single bore, which means that the sensor is ideal for multi-cavity mould applications.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span&gt; &lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span&gt; The sensors can be used with multi-channel technology, Kistler explained, adding that this allows up to seven hours to be connected to a Kistler process monitoring system.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span&gt; &lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span&gt; Furthermore, the sensors can withstand operating temperatures of up to 200 Celsius.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span&gt; &lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span&gt; Meanwhile, it was recently announced that UK rail operator South West Trains is fitting light sensors to its illumination on platforms at six of its stations.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span&gt;The company works in a region the Met Office lists as receiving anywhere between 50 and over 200 hours of direct sunlight a month, depending on the time of year.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span&gt;Posted by Andre Dixon&lt;/span&gt;&lt;a href="http://feeds.directnews.co.uk/feedtrack/justcopyright.gif?feedid=1785&amp;amp;itemid=800389997"&gt;&lt;img alt="ADNFCR-1785-ID-800389997-ADNFCR" src="http://feeds.directnews.co.uk/feedtrack/justcopyright.gif?feedid=1785&amp;amp;itemid=800389997" /&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;div style="clear:both;"&gt;&lt;/div&gt;
