Sharp launches Aquos SH-12C 3D smartphone

In news that may interest wireless communication device manufacturers, Sharp has joined the portable 3D market by officially unveiling the Sharp Aquos SH-12C 3D phone.

The device joins the likes of the HTC EVO 3D, LG Optimus 3D and Nintendo 3DS in the market, t3.com has reported.

Sharp's Aquos SH-12C 3D boasts dual cameras on the reverse capable of eight-megapixel photos and a 720P HD 3D video recording system. The glasses-free 3D qHD screen offers greater pixel density than the HTC Evo 3D.

T3.com explained: "The smartphone is powered by a rather nippy 1.4GHz Qualcomm MSM8255 chip, 512MB of RAM and has the capacity to take a microSD up to 32GB. Android 2.3 comes as standard."

However, it added: "The downside? It's only being released in Japan on 20 May[May 20th], with no word yet on a UK release."
