In news that may interest wireless communication device users, web-based restaurant reservations and marketing service operator LiveBookings has suggested that the ability to access the internet and use applications via mobile phones has changed the way we choose where to eat.

Andris Berzins, chief marketing officer at the firm, observed that the smartphone revolution has "created a new type of diner".

This demographic, he explained, is made up of "MoDs, or mobile diners" because they "locate, research, book and review restaurants while on the move".

Mr Berzins added that the adoption of location-based services will increase the convenience to making bookings via mobile devices.

"The ability to book restaurants using mobile makes it much easier for consumers," he said.

This comes after a report published last week by JiWire found that a majority of consumers are spending time researching future purchases on mobile phones and other devices.

Posed by Andre Dixon
