Orange UK has unveiled a new budget-minded Android smartphone, wireless communication device manufacturers may be interested to learn.

Named the Barcelona, the new device boasts a 2.6-inch landscape touchscreen, with a full QWERTY keyboard below the display, mobileburn.com has reported.

The Barcelona features Android 2.2 Froyo with 3G HSDPA, GPS and HD Voice, as well as FM Radio and a 3.2 megapixel camera.

According to Orange, the device boasts an expected battery life of seven hours of talk time or 12 days of standby.

The network provider has priced the Barcelona at free on monthly plans.

In other industry news, Motorola confirmed recently that its new Wilder budget smartphone, targeted at teenagers, will be on sale from July from Carphone Warehouse.

The new device features a small notification bar at the bottom of the screen, which gives connectivity and battery notifications.

Furthermore, the Motorola Wilder boasts a 2MP camera with video recording capabilities as standard.
