&lt;span&gt;Wireless communication device firm Everything Everywhere has announced &amp;amp;quot;record&amp;amp;quot; smartphone sales in the second quarter.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span&gt;According to the firm, as many as 85 per cent of new contract customers opted for a smartphone, up from 84 per cent in the first quarter and from 64 per cent year-on-year.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span&gt;Everything Everywhere revealed that mobile service revenue also grew by two per cent year-on-year.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span&gt;Tom Alexander, chief executive officer of Everything Everywhere, commented: &amp;amp;quot;The first half of 2011 was a period of good progress for Everything Everywhere.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span&gt;&amp;amp;quot;We are investing in building the best network experience for our customers and in creating platforms for growth.&amp;amp;quot;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span&gt;Everything Everywhere confirmed it expected to increase its contract customer base across both Orange and T-Mobile.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span&gt;Earlier this week, Mozilla, the firm best known for its Firefox internet browser, announced that it is set to introduce its very own mobile operating platform.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span&gt;Mozilla said it is currently working on a new mobile operating platform developers have called &amp;amp;quot;Boot to Gecko&amp;amp;quot; or B2G.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span&gt;Posted by Simon Jones&amp;nbsp;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;a href="http://feeds.directnews.co.uk/feedtrack/justcopyright.gif?feedid=1785&amp;amp;itemid=800638292"&gt;&lt;img alt="ADNFCR-1785-ID-800638292-ADNFCR" src="http://feeds.directnews.co.uk/feedtrack/justcopyright.gif?feedid=1785&amp;amp;itemid=800638292" /&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;div style="clear:both;"&gt;&lt;/div&gt;
