Expert predicts rise in touchscreen smartphones

New smartphones will have more advanced touchscreens.

This is according to Dan Grabham, deputy editor of techradar.com, who explained that organic light-emitting diode technology will become commonplace in the future.

"The benefit is that these displays are far more energy efficient than LCD tech, while they can also be thicker and more robust," Mr Grabham explained.

He added: "They may also be able to be rolled up or folded - so it may be possible to have tablet-like devices and e-readers that you simply unroll."

Mr Grabham explained that he expects to see more smartphones used around the home.

Earlier this week, Huawei, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer, confirmed that its first own-branded handset could hit the UK as early as September.

Thus far, the firm has focused its efforts on producing handsets for carriers. This is set to change, though, with Huawei preparing for the introduction of the Huawei Blaze, which will run Google Android.
