Motorola to launch new Fire handset in UK

Wireless communication device user Motorola has confirmed that it will bring its Fire smartphone to the UK next month.

A budget Android smartphone, the new Fire model is designed for users wanting the combination of a touchscreen and a physical Qwerty keyboard.

Victoria McManus, UK marketing director at Motorola Mobility, commented: "We are excited about extending our growing smartphone range in UK, and Motorola FIRE opens up new possibilities in the smartphone market.

"The device's stylish design and its exciting and versatile social media applications will wow younger, tech-loving users in particular."

According to Motorola, the new model will feature a microSD card slot, dual-band HSDPA and quad-band Edge.

Research In Motion (RIM), meanwhile, recently released three Blackberry Curve smartphone devices running on its operating system, Blackberry 7.

RIM unveiled the new Blackberry Curve 9350, Curve 9360 and Curve 9370 handsets.

"These new models will build on the incredible success of the Blackberry Curve line and further expand the largest global launch of Blackberry smartphones in our history," commented Mike Lazaridis, president at RIM.
