Impossible to disguise Blackberry 7's age

No amount of polishing can disguise the Blackberry 7 operating system's age.

This is according to Conrad Longmore, editor of Mobile Gazette, a mobile phone news website which covers global system for mobile communications and 3G handsets in Europe and worldwide.

"The BlackBerry 7 OS makes several small improvements to functionality, along with a cosmetic refresh to make it look more contemporary," he commented.

"However, it's quite an old operating system and no amount of polishing can disguise that."

Mr Longmore added that the generation of BlackBerry devices after this should be running the new QNX operating system, which is found on the PlayBook tablet.

Meanwhile, Stuff magazine has claimed that Apple's dominance in the tablet market shows no signs of waning.

Will Findlater, the magazine's editor, observed that the success of the iPad range means that "Apple still certainly has a stranglehold".

Until other platforms can rival the iPad's roster of apps, Mr Willfindlater said that he does not forsee any rival wirless communication device rival manufacturers make a dent.
