HTC dealt new blow in battle with Apple

HTC, the Taiwanese wireless communication device manufacturer, has been dealt another blow in its ongoing dispute with Apple over patent infringements.

This is because the US International Trade Commission (ITC) has concluded that Apple did not violate patents, an allegation made by HTC in a complaint lodged last year.

Through its initial complaint, HTC demanded the court ban imports of several Apple products.

And despite the judgement, Grace Lei, HTC's general counsel, said that it was sticking by its original claims.

"This is only one step of many in these legal proceedings," she said. "We are confident we have a strong case for the ITC appeals process and are fully prepared to protect our intellectual property."

Ms Lei added: "We look forward to resolving this case, so we can continue creating the most innovative mobile experiences for consumers."

News of the ruling prompted HTC shares to sink by six per cent.
