Well, I'm really concerned about the security at home. I'm working on improving it by using self powered wireless nodes consisting of PIR sensors placed all around the home. By self powered I meant Solar energy based. No need to worry about power/power failure. Just install it and forget till the battery needs replacement. I already have installed cctv camera's but this is going to be an addition in security. Each nodes will be connected to the nearest node thus making a communication path, one master node or a main board will process the data and can be seen on any smartphone with the help of android app(GUI).

More security need more time or more high speed MCU means more money.

Maybe raspberry pi zero will be good to solution this problem.

An extension of my eLDERMON project that included front door monitoring as well as external PIR activity might be a start.

This could trigger a RPi camera to record the front door visitor.

There are myriad sensors that can be employed to detect intruders. A facial recognition project would also be a great experience.

A robotic python that roams around and moves to areas where movements is detected. Some people have problems with baboons and they are terrified of snakes.

It is (was!) about 100 metres from the house. I need to set up an alarm system to protect the replacement. My initial thoughts are to set up a resistance bridge, balancing the loop resistance down to the pump and back, and the out-of-balance voltage fed to a schmitt trigger to activate a relay to connect power to the siren. This, I think, will have a minimal power requirement in the quiescent state - and if there is an 'alarm' event, then I don't mind how much power is used to wake me up! Since fingerprints are so tied to our physical bodies (if it gets hacked you can't just change it), why not use some other unique pattern. Fractals are mathematical so they can be used by computers and they're visual as well.

I've seen a blue tooth activated padlock but I'm not convinced by that. Unless if has some time out for failed IDs it would be vulnerable to brute force with a rogue app.

One security project I would like to implement eventually is multiple RPis with camera's to watch various areas outside of the house. Being able to implement an away from Home option could be interesting, but allowing for recording of areas and remote viewing would be the basics at first implementation.

One of the limiting factors so far is trying to find a camera that might allow a zoom option remotely for when I may want to look closer on the property line due to illegal pedestrian traffic.

Power is another issue since key locations for distribution of camera's fail to have power outlets readily available. Just means more planning before implementation. :-)

Snort is an open source intrusion prevention system capable of real-time traffic analysis and packet logging.
