Hey I received my ST32F4 Discovery board today. Very nice and I am really looking forward to making some projects with it. Very nice looking board. Okay time to read the getting Started PDF and figure out where to start. I imagine updating firmware will be step one. I'll keep you updated with the progress. I hope you other people do the same ok? A simple board (wouldn't want to lose anything too nice) to run a robot that places explosive charges for demolition. For instance into an old shaky building that has to come down. The sensors are designed to hopefully keep the bot from falling through places too unsteady to cross but still find a path to the place the charge needs to go.http://www.element14.com/community/docs/DOC-79205

Looked at Dreamboard area, and started to work on a design. Realized there was a mismatch to what I wanted.

Basically want Cortex M4 or x86 in a small 40pin DIP, with more 0.1" pins on top.... all the pins.

Might "accept" a power supply (to get from 5V USB). Might accept USB comms. Might accept Wifi (BLE, NFC).

But even Ethernet and LEDs should be pins. Sensors from Seeed or Adafruit or Sparkfun..Give me a porcupine.

Edison and Curie: Close but inhuman connector.

Same for Aria: http://www.acmesystems.it/aria

Teensy, Particle, etc.: Small DIP but not latest processors or big resource (Meg RAM Gig Flash).

Offerings from Lantronix and Digi have actually come closest to the small porcupine goal.

Just let us out at a human scale. Let developers deal at arms length with the layout, I/O, isolation, fault tolerance, and other needed features.

Stay outside with sensing and communications.
