Year in Review 2023

Hey everyone!

As 2023 begins to wrap up, and platforms push out their years in review (anyone checked out their Spotify, youtube or other platform roundups yet?) from member feedback on previous years we'll be looking at the 2023 review in January next year so we can include December in the stats!

I also know there are outstanding pin badges to be sent out and I have a list here of who'll be receiving those - we've had structural changes behind the scenes at the element14 Community here to work with and that's held everything up for a while.

We'll have the usual roundups of Project14, Design Challenges and RoadTests, and I'll pull together stats around our blog posts and element14 presents episodes! You're always welcome to chime in with what you'd like to see, and what you've liked about seeing from the past year roundups.

What I'd love to work on for 2024 is a way for you all to be able to self-serve some of this information, a number of you have expressed wanting to see the stats on the content you publish to the element14 Community and we want to make the site work for you in that regard.

Yes, we had another amazing year at element14 due to the effort of all of the staff.

Unfortunately, I did not participate this year in any of e14 community events, but I hope that will change in 2024 :)
cstanton I believe my pin from last year is still pending. Any update on that? Note: My address has changed and is updated in my profile

Thank you for keeping this community vibrant and interesting!

It’s been a rough year over here, so I’m hoping in 2024 things will settle down a bit and allow me to focus on strange and interesting projects instead 🙂

It has been a strong year with excellent work by the e14 staff to keep the programs relevant, with themes like green technology and Save the Bees, and it has to be mentioned - to keep Verint up and running. Congratulations to the staff and thanks to all the members for their fantastic content.

Yes, it's about that time of year that we should have something going on, something about awards for the members for the year I think, and their rising contributions.

Maybe a bit of content in the 'Hall of Fame' too, it's a bit empty.

And some new pin badge designs.

What do you think? I'm always open to a bit of feedback.

Stats are definitely of interest to some. I remember when vsluiter used to do stats about the forum it was always a popular posting.

Praise and rewards are always welcome to the ego. A good reward for me would be to have a history of participation per year, number of blogs published, total number of visits to blogs, number of participation in discussions, groups in which I have participated. Participation in challenges, project14 and road tests. It's something I could do by hand but I'd also like to be able to check out other community members' stats.

I imagine that this has been a very hard year for the development team with all the problems that the different migrations have caused, so it is just a suggestion for when the waves calm down.

Hopefully that wasn't a blockchain-based ledger ... hehe ...

I think it would be nice to have some awards, as usual ... whether they have to be creative or not, I'm not particularly fussed. Recognising good, interesting, quirky or entertaining content is always appreciated. A best-of-2022 compilation across everything - RoadTests, Design Challenges, Forums, Blogs ...

I'm not one to be creative ... so I'll probably leave it to the rest of the members to think of ideas.

Perhaps something to recognise those who were instrumental in bug reporting, quashing spam, would be nice too.
