Winners Announced!

Wow, it's been a busy few weeks here on the element14 Community, and our thanks go out to the hundreds of you who voted in this year's Community Awards!

Your response has been awesome, and your voices have been heard loud and clear. Everything you love about the tech world, and this Community will be put to great use over the coming days, weeks and months, but in the meantime let's take a look at how you voted.

Product of the Year

The nominees for Product of the Year included the Pi 7" touchscreen, the CodeBug, the Cypress CY8CKIT-059 PSoC and the Raspberry Pi 2 (hard to believe it's been less than a year since the Pi 2 arrived, right?).

And with an epic 68% of the 365 votes cast, the Raspberry Pi 2 wins out!

Project of the Year

These are the projects that really grabbed our attention over the last year, and a whopping 264 of you spoke out about which of them really rang your electronics bell. But in the words of Connor McLeod, there can be only one. And this year, our congratulations go out to balearicdynamics who's Meditech machine landed a winning 51% of the votes!

Member of the Year

I hate to sound too cheesy about this, but the truth is, all our members are our Member of the Year! Without all your great contributions, discussions and efforts, voting in this category wouldn't be possible. But, mcb1 has been chose by you as particularly standing out, and quite understandably; Mark is element14's only current Level 9 member, so no one can deny he's earned this award. Cheers Mark!

Technology of the Year

This poll is a particular favourite of mine, as it gives us here at element14 some essential insights. It tells us not only which topics to keep a close eye on in the near future, but also what you guys are most interested in. Even those technologies that didn't win out. This year, however, it the Internet of Things is the big subject, as determined by an impressive 52% of the 306 votes.

RoadTest of the Year

In an effort to continue bringing you all the products you want to get your hands on and stretch to their electronic limits, we asked which were your favourite RoadTests of 2015. This was a close one, with all nominations coming within a few points of each other. Ultimately, the Keysight 34470A Multimeter topped the polls with 29% of the 282 votes.

Design Challenge of the Year

Keeping you entertained is a big part of why we're here, and Design Challenges are always an entertaining event. We asked you which were your favourite over the last 12 months, so we can tailor 2016's and ensure you're getting the gear you want. There was a clear winner here, with 41% of the massive 281 votes going to Sci-Fi-Your Pi. Couldn't agree more.

Future Technology Predictions

A newcomer to the element14 Community Awards, this poll is especially intriguing, as it asked you for your predictions for the hot tech of the next 12 months. Discussions were rife here, but ultimately it seems that Bio Hacking captured your imagination the most, with 45% of the 295 votes giving it the thumbs as your future tech prediction.

Congratulations to all involved, and another big thanks for such a great turn out at the polls by all those hundreds of element14 members. Remember to leave your comments and congratulations in the comments below, and let us know what you'd like to see in next year's element14 Community Awards. We're taking notes!

2015 Community Awards Voting Badge Giveaway - Terms and Conditions

1. This opportunity is organized and sponsored by element14 (the “Organizer”).

2. The application period will be open from 16 NOVEMBER, 2015 – 4 DECEMBER, 2015 23:59 PM BST

3. Comments will be reviewed and winners selected by members of the element14 team. Applicants who have been chosen will receive notification via email post no later than 18 DEC 2015.

4. Submissions will be selected based on originality, innovation and technical merit at the sole discretion of element14.

5. By submitting a comment for consideration, the applicant:

1. Agrees that he/she will submit a comment based on their future technology predictions for 2016 and any opinions on provided predictions. Failure by a selected individual to participate in accordance with the parameters of the giveaway, provided no reasonable cause for this inability to participate is given, may result in exclusion from future element14 Giveaways;

2. Authorizes the Organizer to use their personal data (as defined in the Data Protection Act 1998), application and any content created in relation to this promotion for the purposes of running and promoting element14.com, this year and/or in subsequent years

3. Agrees to positively participate in all publicity surrounding their participation in this giveaway.

6. This promotion may be terminated at any time if there are, in the sole opinion of element14, an insufficient number of entries, or if the applications are not of an appropriate standard for this promotion. The Organizer has the right to cancel this promotion if necessary due to circumstances outside its reasonable control. The Organizer reserves the right to make changes from time to time and the latest version of these Terms from time to time will be posted to the site.

7. General

1. The Organizer reserves the right to delegate all or any of its powers, rights and obligations arising in relation to this promotion to any Associate and certain such rights and powers are assumed by the Organizer on behalf of itself and each Associate. Reference to “Organizer” shall be deemed to include reference to each Associate.

2. The Organizer shall have the sole discretion to disqualify (without correspondence or right of appeal) any Applicant it considers to be adversely affecting the process or the operation of this promotion or to be in breach of these Terms or to be acting in a disruptive manner or with intent to annoy, abuse, threaten or harass any other Applicant or Participant.

3. The Organizer has the right to amend or add to these Terms from time to time. Revised Terms and Conditions will be posted on the Competition Site and it is a condition of entry to this promotion that Applicants and Participants agree to comply with these Terms and, if appropriate, such Terms as amended from time to time.

4. Headings are for convenience only and do not affect the interpretation or construction of these Terms and Conditions.

5. These Terms and the operation of this promotion shall be governed by and construed in accordance with English Law and any claim or matter arising under these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.
