While this has affected millions of highly educated professionals worldwide, it appears that the engineering industry has mostly been spareen-USTelligent Community 12https://community.element14.com/members-area/personalblogs/b/blog/posts/engineering-a-road-to-successFri, 14 Feb 2014 19:54:37 GMT93d5dcb4-84c2-446f-b2cb-99731719e767:a0e5a132-e3ec-4406-9844-6072856523aaDAB1<p>We see this Gold rush every 7-8 years.</p><p>People get interested in Engineering due to the low unemployment rate and high salaries and rush to get into engineering education programs.</p><p>Then the reality hits, this stuff is really hard!&nbsp; Then we see a large percentage of new students drop out of the programs.</p><p>In the meantime, good engineering candidates are left out because the classes are full of engineering chasers.</p><p>I think I have seen at least six or seven cycles in my career.&nbsp; It always ends the same way.&nbsp; In two or three years we will have a shortage of qualified engineers and a new flurry of H1B visas being requested.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>DAB</p><img src="https://community.element14.com/aggbug?PostID=17192&AppID=293&AppType=Weblog&ContentType=0" width="1" height="1">
