The Pi will work with the 4707, but I can't speak for the sparkfun board. My breakout has code for the Pi and I use it and have many others who use it with both the Pi and BBB.

I actually have a new board that is built specifically for a Pi and will have many more features built in, but it may be a few months before that will be available.

In software you can change whether it is a pull up or up down:

GPIO.setup(23, GPIO.IN, pull_up_down=GPIO.PUD_DOWN)
GPIO.setup(24, GPIO.IN, pull_up_down=GPIO.PUD_UP)
