Ok, I added a keyboard and mouns and it changed the /dev/serial/by-path/platform-bcm2708_usb-usb-0:1.2:1.0

perhaps it would be better to use: ser.port = "/dev/serial/by-id/usb-Texas_Instruments_MSP430-USB_Example_E89A816F1C000500-if00"

For those of us who are not so software literate, how do you use it in a RPi.

I'm assumming it is python ....

Oh, a little note. Those familiar with protocol will notice a one byte check for accuracy. If the formula (which I haven't got) is not followed, the device will reply with the last good reply.
