I have a BB-8 and the batteries were dead. Opened it up and replaced them. The motors are now working and it moves and lights up when charging, as expected. However, no bluetooth connection is available, even after reseting.

I can see that the CSR1010 tries to communicate with the external eprom (chip U5), but the code might be corrupted. Has anyone made a dump of the U5 chip - STM24512 that can share?

Nice job of circuit sleuthing.

It has been a while since I did anything like this, but one thing is obvious, the job is much more difficult with SMT and highly integrated circuits.

Very interesting, I look forward to the next post.
