After your road test review, I think you have as good a shot as anyone.

If you have the time, I would go for it. You might surprise yourself.

Plus we all like to root for an underdog.

As the others have said, don't be put of taking part in this challenge, whether you are selected as a participant or just doing it anyway for the fun of it. Either way, win or not, you'll have fun and hopefully learn a whole bunch of stuff in the process. For me it is this learning aspect of taking part in things like this which I find most appealing. If you go into something knowing you're likely to win then it's no challenge. If you have to push yourself and do things you'd previously not been able to then it's far more rewarding even if things don't go to plan somewhere along the way.

While you may feel this way, it's always better to turn in an application and see what may happen. You might be surprised! And if you aren't selected, it was practice for your next application in both style and content. I encourage you to apply, even if you feel as though you may not be selected. And don't let not being selected discourage you from trying again! (P.S. you can still be in the challenge even if not selected by buying the required component and participating by blogging).
