I want to be HW designer one day too. I finished highschool and got a job, where I am designing PCBs. Just simple ones, 4 layers max, nothing complicated. Next year I would like to go to the college. Very nice post.

Having grown up with the embedded industry, I got to see the early transition from minicomputers to the embedded CPU with the first microprocessors.

I first had a AS in electronics and then did my BS in computer engineering, which was the first degree aimed at embedded products.

Since then I have put processors in a wide range of products and amazed people with their capabilities.

My favorite project was building an embedded controller for a Search and Rescue helicopter. Seeing the Pilots smile after the flight test was an incredible boost.

You have a great future ahead of you, enjoy the ride.

Thank you for sharing your story. It is very inspiring. I like the "I took from the internship what I could" approach rather than "I couldn't do EE, so internship was worthless" - which is seen much more often.
