It has a console port available, and you may be able to connect a serial terminal session to it.

It may have lost it's configuration, so have a hunt around about reflashing the firmware.

You have nothing to lose.

Thanks for sharing your attempted fix. I often learn much more from my failures than I do from the successes. I have a trick that I use some times to remove capacitors or other two legged vermin. I will heat one leg and rock the component away from that leg. Then I will heat the other leg and rock the component the other way. After two or three rocks one leg will come free and then it is simple to heat and pull the other.

Your comprehensive and detailed approach to problems and fixing things will serve you well and it is likely you will have more successes than failures.
