James,

Sorry to hear about your issues getting your project finished. Like others have said - sometimes this sort of thing happens, timescales slip, the unexpected happens. I'm absolutely sure the judges have enough background experience to have been there themselves in the past and will judge your project from what it was aiming to do and what challenges you overcame. Think about school exams - we were always told to show the working out as sometimes you got high marks even though there was one mistake along the way that resulted in the incorrect answer.

I would not be surprised if in the middle of the night you suddenly awake with an "AHA" moment and are able to complete. This happens to me all the time in my projects after I have hit a dead end. Just give the subconscious a little time to work it out.

James, Please do not drop from the Hack Like Heck competition. You were one of my personal favorites and I would suspect one of the front runners for the gig. Although it sounds like you will not complete the build by the deadline, the path you took to get the stage you are with your build should be most important part. I believe Heck had some builds he had to set aside and readdressed them at a later point in time.

One thing with the Pi, you really want to have a power supply that is capable of 3A or more especially if you are using a screen. Also, I hope you are not connecting the Arduino board directly to the Pi. There might be a mismatch between the GPIO pin voltage levels, so you would want to put either a level shifter between the Pi and the Arduino board or some sort of transistor driver circuit. And, I tend to use a separate voltage supplies if I have a separate board in the mix and not power the secondary board from the Pi. This way if there is a short somewhere in the mix, it would be easier to isolate.

Sorry to hear of your bad luck with the project. I was very eager to see your video. I'm sure it will make a great addOhms episode.

Btw I see your 128GB of files and I raise my 256GB of Video files for mine...it came down to 18:01min
To focus on the positive side, with taking more time for your project this project can turn into a very extensive and in depth episode of add ohms with usefull ressources for others.

Something you just couldn't do within the given time.

Glad you still want to publish that video! My cartridge reader -the one key cool thing about my project- doesn't work either and I had to stop working on it yesterday to finish cutting the video. So it feels like failure, too. Learned a lot though and need to do a follow up on the console as well. Man that really is too bad though, I had high hopes for you because of your production quality and you sharing stuff while building!

Well, you gave it a good shot. There is a lot to say about having tried and failed. It is a lot better than not having tried at all. There is a lot of evidence of good work in the pictures that you posted, like that very clean front panel.
