I remember buying a Piccolo controlSTICK to get a free CCS licence. I never even used it - I gave it away! It seems we all bought something different to get CCS for free!

I really like the FR6989 LaunchPad. There is a lecture series by Mark Budnik of Valparaiso University on Udemy using the FR6989 that I thought was really good. I believe it was $10 with a discount and well worth it for me when I was starting out.

I've found that starting from TI's examples is usually helpful. There's normally at least one simple example for each peripheral.

Assuming you've installed CCS in the default location you should find these under:

C:\ti\msp430ware_3_80_07_00\examples\devices\MSP430FR5xx_6xx\MSP430FR5x8x_MSP430FR692x_MSP430FR6x7x_MSP430FR6x8x_Code_Examples
