May be of interest - Dirk Fox / Thomas Puttmann have finally published their latest book - Fischertechnik with Arduino.

Flicking through it, there is a design for a self-parking four-wheel buggy like the ones created for the Robotics Cup competitions:

Their books tend to look at old designs, does the maths behind them and recreates them using Fischertechnik constructor sets. In this publication he looks at some 1980's pick-and-place robots, pen plotters and buggy's.

It's only published in German text, but the quality of the presentation of the material I find is excellent. There is always Goggle Translate.

I've always thought that they should do a version of 'musical chairs' at Robotics Cup. One less parking bay for each lap of the circuit. Let the chaos commence ! Cool, little beasts. I have two large Robosapien Huminoids robots by WowWee, one in black and white and the other is cream and black. I had recently received a gift certificate for Amazon, so I got online and did some shopping. At first I thought, oh yeah I need more tools (not really), but then I thought, cool, I use a robot or two.....

I ended up ordering two of these cute little guys (mind is a little different, more molded pieces, like one part feet and legs) :

I was sharing the story about my new toys with my Grandkids, when they both exclaimed that they wanted a robot. So I got back on Amazon to order a few more, but alas they were sold out with no expected restock date. So I jumped on Ebay and found one for sale (new in box). Now, I need to find a way to make them a bit more interactive, so you don't need a cell phone to control them, but oh well, isn't that what all the cool Grandpas do?

I thought you might enjoy this as your robots inspired this thought.

Those are some nice robots. I have been a robot hoarder for many years. My wife thinks I have a problem, but I think I have a hobby.
