I think that many of my skills suffered with the use of the Butane powered soldering iron.&amp;nbsp; It always seems to be either too hot or not hot enough.&amp;nbsp; Still can&amp;#39;t quite beat the portability of it though, and it is still a good iron.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Recently I picked up a new temperature controlled bench hot air and soldering iron and I&amp;#39;m very much enjoying it and I am realizing what I&amp;#39;ve been missing all these years.&amp;nbsp; You&amp;#39;ve got to have the right power, temperature, and flux to make soldering a pleasure instead of a frustration.&amp;nbsp; I haven&amp;#39;t used lead-free solder, so maybe that&amp;#39;s why I haven&amp;#39;t had issues.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Choice of flux is very important.&amp;nbsp;
