Good luck with the build, the shell is up for my new garage with a workshop attached to the side. I have finished insulating it and lining it out and am now laying flooring, then onto the wiring.

Nothing on your scale though, the workshop is 8 x 10 ft. Maybe I should have entered it for the Size Matters Not competition.

We have about 0.6 of an acre here too, which was a compromise when we bought it - smaller to be closer to town - but it turns out to be plenty to maintain as it is.

To be perfectly honest... it's not really 0.6 acre - it's 1/4 hectare (being all Canadian like that). Maybe they were trying to sneak some metric past you too, over there.

And my workshop is just about 600 sq feet too, except that we lose space to a staircase in the corner that leads up to the guest suite (mulBerryLand Guest House).

It's a very nice size. A word of caution though - I kept things too nice in there and now my wife has taken over about 80% of the space [View:/resized-image/__size/16x16/__key/commentfiles/f7d226abd59f475c9d224a79e3f0ec07-565b5877-f6c3-491d-a9bf-133b6bb25fe8/contentimage_5F00_403.png:16:16]

Are you doing the electrical yourself, and/or later?

One thing I sure don't regret is the bit extra we spent on putting 12 gauge wiring and 20 amp circuits all around the workshop. I recently replaced the outlets near the garage doors to be GFCI protected.

Being in Texas I wonder if positioning the roof for future solar panel options would be thing.

I can't wait to see the progress pictures as it all comes together!

Hi Gene,

This is really great. I am having a hard time imagining how much your production will increase once you have this nice place to work. We will have to have a new program, like the Ben Heck Show, only call it "Buzz's Workshop". Please keep us up to date with pictures and plans.

Gene,

You had me fooled there for a while. In the UK a shop usually means somewhere you sell things and I wasn't sure why you would want ot have shop selling something on you rland. It was several sentence sin before I realised you meant workshop. I have a garage. I can get my car in the garage, just. I tried once when we first moved in to see if it would fit. It did, but I cannot remember if I could get out of the car once it was inside. There isn't enough room for my tools (and other useful stuff that one day might get used and which other people could call rubbish) and the car so the car stay outside.
