I had heard those boxes were of questionable quality. I was thinking about something similar and the Aidetek ones you see on eBay are a bit better as far as I've heard. Not tried them myself though.

Are you not tempted to use solder paste and a hot air gun or toaster oven for SMD work?

You are braver than I to do SMD work.

My fingers are too big and my eyesight is not nearly good enough to handle this level of parts.

Thank you for sharing your quest for a solution to this storage and assembly challenge. I often go looking for solutions to problems only to find the resources force me into compromise. I have found the storage resources for the jewelry and beading hobbies useful for SMD storage. Some of the beading tools have also proven useful for handling these small parts. As with most things our quest for a better process when we construct things is an ongoing struggle. I look forward to learning more about how you improve your procedures in the future.

Some co-incidence! I did exactly the same for SMD passives with containers, even to the extent of marking out cutting lines on labels. I marked up the labels differently as I’m using the containers as permanent storage rather than WIP containers. The ones you use look like they clip together so in theory you could make a storage area as large and shaped as you want? I ended up with a fixed storage hold-all with the containers but the lids are all working with very positive open/close action. From Amazon, but I don’t remember paying £25 for it so I think it might have gone up in price.
