&lt;p&gt;Back in the early 1980&amp;#39;s, I was programming one of the early digital oscilloscopes for analyzing radar patterns.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;We used a 32K byte buffer using an A/D with a DMA feature to capture the data.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;I wrote the software to then display and zoom into the areas of interest and run calculations on 3 db points, lobe width and a bunch of other parameters that I no longer remember.&lt;/p&gt;
