I have a couple of the not-so-4K fire tv sticks, and they are great, like you said quite snappy for such an inexpensive device - it’s a lot more responsive at startup than my LG smart TV!

I’m totally surprised by the GPS antenna too! What the heck!? Seems like a relatively expensive part to pop into a device that pretty much knows its location from internet connection - are there really that many people who use VPN location changes to thwart the system?

Very interesting!

I use them too, never suspected they housed a GPS antenna! As you say, it may be for timing purposes. Amazon products are interesting to tear apart! I disassembled an old Amazon Echo device ages ago and it held an impressive amount of circuitry all compacted together. The sticks definitely seem well made and reliable, I've had various iterations of them permanently powered up years.
