At first, it went to a dim state with several dead pixels like the previous screen did. But then five uses later, the screen has gone completely dark - no image, but the unit is still workable via the Keysight Handheld Meter Logger software over USB/Bluetooth.

Unfortunately, the screens seem to be even rarer and more expensive. It seems replacing it with another OLED screen is just going to result in a few more years before they too succumb. It would likely be a lot of work to adapt it to something else (e.g. an LCD) ... so I guess mine will just have to live black-screen for now. Perhaps I'll need to reverse engineer the interface and do some translation to make it a possibility ... but I suspect that's just more effort than it's worth.

Is the repair holding up?

I have messaged the seller at Alibaba to see if they have it without the tail, it will be interesting to repeat this repair

RE: Open Surgery on a Keysight U1461A Insulation Resistance Tester

Great teardown and repair.

RE: Open Surgery on a Keysight U1461A Insulation Resistance Tester

Great work Doctor Gough.
