Interesting stuff -it spurred me to look at the Rigol DHO 800/900 scopes (which I hadn't noticed until now). I already have a Rigol HD4204 and the Rigol DHO924S pretty much matches it in everything (and has some extra features) for about 1/3 of the price.

The Rigol is an astounding offer for the money and for pure scope performance in a tiny package at up to 250MHz is remarkable , offering true 12 bit ADC with low noise and really fast update rates - with the bonus of USB C power. The battery pack for the Tek MSO 2 series is about the same price as the whole Rigol scope.

Keen to read your final review to see if anything pops up to persuade me to part with the dosh for the Tek.

Thanks for the through market comparison charts! I have been looking into some of the lower cost options to replace my primary workhorse scope, a Tektronix TDS 2014B that I bought about 16 years ago. Some of the new portables are looking pretty good to me right now.

Very useful comparison. I guess the markets for Tektronix and Siglent/Rigol are different but it shows how much the latter are offering for the money for those who aren’t after the names. It’s hard to imagine why anyone would be speccing one of these up to the max price as that seems crazy money to me. The warranty seems strange as well, it always feels like either a lack of faith or a disdain for customers to offer the barest minimum for what is marketed as a “premium” product/brand.
