Update

Until now the repair has been working with no known issues.

This morning I got in and it came up with the error indicating the wire between the module and ECM is broken (or the unit is faulty) [View:/resized-image/__size/16x16/__key/commentfiles/f7d226abd59f475c9d224a79e3f0ec07-86821031-e204-4bc9-bb30-c8689364ff3d/contentimage_5F00_2.png:16:16]

So either I have a faulty connection ... or since it went after multiple ignition on/off sequences there is a fault with the ECM.

It might have to wait until it fails again, as I have other things ot concentrate on, and it is the spare car.

Hi Mark, Excellent rendition of the process involved in troubleshooting a problem. Intermittent problems are always a devil to deal with. I have found that just having the ambition to open things up and explore with open eyes is often enough to solve the problem. Keep up the great posts.

Nice post!! It nicely details the step-by-step approach on how to gain more information, diagnostics, etc., and then trying a repair. It has encouraged me to try to get around to some electrical repairs on my car too.. : )
