I cant emphasise enough how good these really are, no pushing to try and dig into a joint to get the tip to grip required, rest them on and they just grip so easily and don't slip at all.

My only comment is they aren't quite 100% universal as they don't work with the standard Keysight probes I got with my U1272A but they do fit on my Keithley 4-wire kelvin connection probes.

Best Regards,

Rachael

RE: Meter Lead - JW special probes

I'm a fan too. They are brilliant.

I have #34, 35 and 36 size drills.

In my experience, the #34 bites the best in soldered pads.

I'm doing SMD work typically, where - for passives - the solder is a mountain at the side of the components. Difficult with sharp probes, easy with these ones.

I don't use them for small IC probing because the business end is too broad for that.

Also not in situations where you 'drag-probe' over a series of pins (e.g. when you use the continuity beeper to find out where a particular signal goes on a board) because then the anti-slip works against you.

RE: Meter Lead - JW special probes

Hi Mark,

Just one clarification. The actual tips are friction fit into the adapter. You may need to grab the tip with a piece of rubber so it doesn't slip through your fingers but they will pull out to the front and they can be replaced with similar dental burs. I have found the best size is the USA number 34 or the European number HM-2 -008.

John

RE: Meter Lead - JW special probes

Hi Mark,

Thank for testing out the probe tips.
