Interesting device. I had no idea such devices existed.

There is a computer museum here and I got the chance to take some photos over the weekend, I liked this one of valves/tubes:

Those of us who have worked with high power RF well know the capability for this device to burn off human flesh with a small electrode.

RF burns were like a badge of honor when working with some of these devices.

The US Navy did a study and found that 50% off all unit failures were due to connector or cabling issues.

I think your experience with this device proves the point that users should always check their cables and connections before assuming that the device has failed.

It is sort of like the Windows reboot sequence. Whenever Windows failed to work correctly, a system reboot solved about 90% of the problems.
