It is so useful other manufacturers like Microchip have a version of the device too (TC7662).&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Although current output is low with this device, nevertheless it is less noisy than DC-DC converters with inductor, so perfect for op-amp circuits as you say.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;I needed to do that recently for powering some analog circuitry (similar circuit but in voltage doubling mode, I needed a &amp;gt;9V supply from 5V),&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;there is a lower-priced alternative which is pin-compatible, Analog Devices ADM660, and it has the benefit of higher output current.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;(I like the voltage doubling circuit, one of the few circuits where you apply the +ve supply to the GND pin of the IC!).&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;span&gt;[View:/resized-image/__size/620x340/__key/commentfiles/f7d226abd59f475c9d224a79e3f0ec07-6d86a2a4-0364-4b26-b080-d7bd509639e1/6724.contentimage_5F00_181949.png:620:340]&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;img src="https://community.element14.com/aggbug?PostID=21799&amp;AppID=315&amp;AppType=Weblog&amp;ContentType=0" width="1" height="1"&gt;</description></item></channel></rss>
