Do you need to seal the tube to the endcap to prevent air leaking in or is the flared tube acting like a ferrule?

Very creative solution to the problem. I'm always impressed by the quality of your execution in repairing things.

Wish I could still do as well, but poor vision, arthritic hands, and mostly a lack of patience get in my way. I recently damaged some pads on a PCB because I got frustrated trying to remove a connector.

It's great that you discovered a new technique. I was expecting to see that sealing against the vacuum was as problematic as sealing for inflation. I'm glad that wasn't the case.

Those cables really should be a cheap replacement item, but I'm guessing that your "hobby business" is based on the fact that they're sold at vastly inflated prices.

Great thinking. Threading lots of wires through a sheath is the Devil’s own job and I’ve never had to do it when replacing just one or two!

Very neat. I wonder how they do it for new cables.

The only similar arrangement I'm familiar with uses 20mm flexible conduit and is less than half full, easy enough to thread but no use at all for a hand held workpiece.

I was once a spectator when some co-workers were trying to thread a set of 20m long 150A 3 phase cables into plastic tubes to makea neater arrangement for a test rig. it involved a lot of cable lubricant and a lot of sweat. I was very happy to be working on the low power end of the electronics.
