If you haven't already done so I would recommend you put some O-ring grease on the seals and then they'll probably last another 60 years!

Take the DC and AC voltage ratings and the CAT rating of the Mustool with a very large pinch of salt though John. I wouldn't recommend you use it for high voltage stuff. Look at the teardowns and reviews Dave Jones has done in the past on cheap multimeters similar to this and you'll see the required clearances and protection components are likely not there.

Best Regards,

Rachael

RE: Tale of Two Meters

That Anton meter is very nice - and its only four years younger than me - I flatter myself that I'm in equally good fettle !

MK

RE: Tale of Two Meters

Great blog, that old Anton meter is a great looking unit, deserves a prominent space on the shelf to keep an eye on all these newbie digital things kicking around.

Kind regards

RE: Tale of Two Meters

Awesome find :-)

RE: Tale of Two Meters

It is certainly a vast difference between quality made old gear and the newer cheaper equipment.

Great story, thank for sharing.

Mark
