The prints usually came out alright. especially when printing with the Crealit

RE: Learning to 3D Print

The cat came out mostly ok with the Multicomp black PLA. I used the same g-code but with higher temperatures.

I think the thin layers were actually due to the filament on the spool jamming up a bit - it was definitely tight a few times I came in.
The spool uncoiled a fair bit on me recently, which I think caused it. I unrolled it far enough that I'm pretty sure it cleared the cross overs.

In any case, the rest of it printed well, with nice solid results.

I think those little test cubes were probably not the best for proper testing, other than for dimensional accuracy. I'll try the heat towers next.

RE: Learning to 3D Print

Well done Nico.

How did your cats respond when they saw your print?

RE: Learning to 3D Print

You may want to switch to Ultimaker Cura slicer. I find it better than creality slicer.

That's a fine print. How's the multicomp PLA performing? Would love to see some experimental prints with multicomp PLA.

RE: Learning to 3D Print

Glad to see you have good luck with your first prints. My 3D printer was like gold on its first print, with great success with the example code provided. Mine was a small elephant. The first few prints did OK for me, then continually downgraded to the point where the 3D printer stays in a closet now. I havent found a good simple freeware modeling tool , and I cant get the prints to stick to the plate or layer nicely anymore, no matter what I've tried. Cleaning the extruder helped, but didnt solve the not sticking to the bed. I wonder how to evaluate when a nozzle is worn out, or if the filament is the root cause.
