Just to start, id like to note, that your series of blogs has helped me tremendously! Thank you for taking the time to post it! I have a question though. My work currently has a part coding system that makes use of various attribute declaration by means of an alphanumeric code.

For example.

a 100k 0402 50v 1% 1/16w 100ppmTempCoef. resistor would be aptly named 100k15312 while a 249k 0603 100v 0.1% 0.25W 100ppm resistor would be named 249k26352

Im trying to devise a system in which I can use only those that have been approved within eagle and essentially automatically populate the attributes as defined by that alphanumeric identification system. How might u approach said problem?

I struggled recently with a FR2633 that's available in TSSOP 32 and a QFN 32 with a pad. I couldn't see a way to connect the pad to ground and reconcile the different number of pins between packages. I see (as always seems to be the case) that the command line is the way to go! Thanks.

A nice tutorial. I can manage to create a library in Eagle, but I'm very focused on using the mouse and then editing properties. The creative use of the command line and grid system is really helpful.

I'm trying to follow along. You jump right into setting up the grid. I have no idea how you got to here. Do I open something, or create something, or open a library or what exactly?

I have a question regarding eagle 8.3.1 free

In your blog you set grid at one size and alt different when I do this on my laptop pressing alt does nothing.

Is this a function of the free version?

I am trying to layout a part for a CREE led MLCAWT farnell part 2097578

I would appreciate some pointers on the thermal Via's if possible

Actually for 3D viewing I use the ulp eagleup.ulp with the tool Sketchup.

Here you'll find all, what you need.

Interesting, Fusion360, MCAD have an interface to Sketchup.

I like it, because you can see all in a foto-realistic simulation instead of STEP viewing.

The devices are moveable on the board, so you can easily correct some mistakes.

I also created a database for the colored devices, e.g. the resistors with its color rings.

That makes a really cool lookout.

With this viewing, Sketchup, you can also easy measure the dimensions, or relationship between the mechanical components.

My question is not directly related but since you know a lot about part creation, I thought you could point me to other resources...

I have a connector and it's step file from the vendor,.... now how do I create an Eagle library part from a 'step' file ?
