Hi Ralph,

Nice write up on you experience with solar. I worked on the development of power inverters for use in solar and wind based systems (mostly larger scale installations, but some work on residential) for a few years and I have always wanted to add a system to my home. I recently looked into adding solar on top of a shop that I was planning on building. I had a great location (including orientation to the path of the sun), but my home owners association would not approve my plans. Unfortunately, my home is not positioned well for solar (very little roof line with southern exposure) and is quite shaded (several large oak trees near the home), so I don't think solar (at least roof mounted) is in my immediate future.

I enjoyed your report and wish I had a location that was better situated geographically and physically so I could put in a system too.
