Eyes don't heal well after a lasering. An alternative approach would be to put the laser cutter inside a box, possibly with a camera inside, or a protective glass view area. This also has the advantage of providing better control over the fume extraction as it is better to get a laminar flow of air away from the cutting point. Otherwise the fumes can re-condense back onto the surface and cause unsightly marks, especially when cutting plastics. The fumes can also be toxic so you have to get rid of those safely as well.

Dubbie

RE: Preparing to add a laser to my CNC router

Hi Ralph,

Nice reminder about the extingusher, I need to get one too.
